An asbestos demolition survey is a destructive survey designed to find all asbestos-containing-materials within a structure so that they can be safely removed prior to demolition. It is the most intrusive and thorough form of asbestos survey.

An asbestos demolition survey is a legal requirement before starting any demolition work in any building constructed before 2000, in order to protect demolition workers and the surrounding environment and population. You cannot rely on a management or refurbishment survey in its place as these types of survey are not as intrusive and may not have identified all asbestos-containing-materials.

The time taken to complete an asbestos demolition survey can vary depending on the size and complexity of the survey. A small survey may take around 3 hours, whereas a large or complex survey could take months.

An asbestos demolition survey is fully destructive and causes significant damage to the building fabrics. Demolition surveys should only be undertaken in vacant properties.
